Our Story

From one promise to an ecosystem.

We Remember You started as one visit to one shelter. Three years in, it's still our flagship program. But growing it revealed a bigger problem: across the diaspora, people are already doing this same kind of work alone, with no lasting infrastructure behind it. Hearts Agree Foundation exists to build that infrastructure.

The Promise

Our founder stood in a shelter in Lagos, Nigeria, surrounded by women who had survived things most people will never have to imagine. She had come to give. What she left with was a promise: to come back, to bring more, and to make sure these women, and others like them, would know that someone on the other side of the world had not forgotten them.

That promise became We Remember You: an annual community care event for survivors of domestic violence and vulnerable women and families in Nigeria.

To feel remembered during your darkest hour is a deep act of humanity, and the true meaning of community.

The Beginning

We Remember You began with a single visit to a shelter in Nigeria. Our founder brought gifts and cash donations for 25 women. At the end, she made a promise: "I'll be back. And I'll bring more."

Expanding the Care

The promise was kept. In 2024, We Remember You grew to support 50 women with comprehensive programming: medical screenings, a catered day of care, and partnerships with shelters between Enugu and Lagos.

Not another program. A coordinated movement.

Across the diaspora, giving often looks the same. A fundraiser here, a small program there, money sent home for a cousin's business or a family emergency. Each act is real and meaningful, but rarely connected to anything beyond itself. The result is enormous generosity that struggles to add up to lasting change.

The diaspora doesn't need another small, disconnected program. It needs a coordinated ecosystem, one built for real, lasting development in Nigeria. Hearts Agree builds that infrastructure, connecting resources, people, and programs so that giving adds up to something bigger than any one effort could achieve alone.

What This Means for Us

We Remember You stays the flagship. The mission has grown around it.

We Remember You remains our flagship community care program. It's the proof of what showing up for each other looks like, and it isn't going anywhere. But our mission is no longer just about repeating that one program at a larger scale each year. It's about building the ecosystem that lets every version of that work, ours and everyone else's, become sustainable.

That's why the Hearts Agree Task Force and the Hearts Agree Entrepreneur Fund aren't side projects. They're core to what we're building. The Task Force convenes the diaspora leaders already doing this work, and the Entrepreneur Fund puts real resources behind them, so one-off generosity can grow into coordinated, lasting development.
